Thermal Box Liners – How Do They Work?

The Thermal Packaging Market Continues To Grow

Thermal packaging is in high demand all over The United States, Canada and Mexico. The cold-chain market is growing rapidly and spans the pharmaceutical, chemical and food industries. Now more than ever we are relying on cold-chain packaging to get our goods to their end-users in their best conditions.

From time-saving meal kits to life-saving medicines and vaccines, we all rely on the cold chain process whether we know it or not. How many ads do you see for meal delivery kits that take the stress off of you having to go to the grocery store after a long day at work? Or, in the last few years how many times have you heard of some medicine or vaccine that needs to be transported in the cold in order to be effective?

How Do Our Thermal Box Liners Work?

So how exactly does our high barrier foil keep your chilled products cool during transit? Our thermal liners will help protect your products from radiant heat. This type of heat is transferred in the form of visible light (the sun, microwaves or any hot object will emit radiant heat). The heat is reflected off of the liner, making sure that it is never transferred to your chilled products inside.

The heat is reflected due to the low emissivity of aluminum. Emissivity is the effectiveness of the material’s surface in emitting energy as thermal radiation. To put it simply, the shinier the surface, the more likely heat will be reflected and will not transfer to the products inside. Since aluminum has an emissivity value close to 0, your chilled products will stay cool and protected.

Why 3D Barrier Bags?

Our thermal box liners and pallet covers will not only keep your products chilled for up to 48 hours (when used with gel packs and dry ice) but will also preserve the product’s original color and avoid odor transfer in or out! We offer two different thermal high barrier laminates, including our 3DUV129 bubble laminate and our 3D0038 non-bubble laminate for a more cost-effective alternative to polystyrene and other packaging solutions.

We will work hand in hand with you during your testing phase to make sure that your needs are met fully. By sending you samples to fit your exact carton size, you will be able to conduct in-field testing to make sure that your products stay chilled and protected. Contact us today to get your sample!
