In preserving and transporting dried formulations, industries rely heavily on high barrier foil octabin liners. These can sometimes be described as Mylar Octabin liners. Utilizing these liners in industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, plastics or foods is proven to safeguard the integrity of your dried formulation.

Understanding the Need for Specialized Packaging

Preserving the integrity of dried formulations can be a challenge. These formulations are often sensitive to moisture vapor, oxygen, and external contaminants, thus degrading their effectiveness over time.

Who Can This Affect?

Industries such as pharmaceuticals and food, face strict requirements to ensure product stability and safety. Thus, it necessitates a packaging solution that provides a physical barrier and a barrier to address the specific vulnerabilities of the products. Moisture can cause clumping, which makes the dried products challenging to process, for example.

Barrier foil octabin liners are specialized protective packaging that offers exceptional protection against atmospheric contaminants. Constructed from multiple layers, including aluminum, this packaging provides a barrier to moisture vapor, oxygen, light and other potentially harmful factors. This material has the lowest water vapor transmission rate of any flexible material, ensuring the dried product arrives where it was left.

Specific grades of polymer / Resin Pellets can absorb up to 12% of their body weight in moisture vapor within 24 hours, changing their molecular structure. This is problematic for the end customer as a great deal of time, energy and cost needs to go into drying the polymers out before further processing. Foil or Mylar Octabin liners guarantee that the dried resin pellets do not absorb any moisture/humidity from the outside atmosphere. Meaning the end user can store them in confidence and use them without the need for drying.

Why Should You Use Barrier Foil Octabin Liners?

Over the years, Octabin boxes have gained popularity due to their practicality and efficiency. Octabins offer heavy-duty packaging solutions for transportation and storage by providing a solid construction that can withstand heavy loads and pressure. The design of these boxes often allows for double stacking due to the weight distribution across the eight panels. This maximizes space during storage and shipping, allowing more products to go into the same volume of space.

However, these boxes alone do not offer protection from moisture vapor, oxygen and other outside contaminants. Mylar foil liners offer climatic protection to complement the physical protection of the Octabin.

What Are The Benefits?

The benefits of using octabin liners manufactured from barrier foil extend beyond physical protection, preventing cross-contamination and reducing spoilage during storage and transportation.

By maintaining the residual moisture and oxygen levels within tolerance, these liners prevent the transfer of odors in or out and protect your product against temperature extremes. Moreover, these liners offer a cost-effective solution by minimizing the potential losses associated with damaged products.

Liners can be manufactured from various laminates, including heat-resistant mylar up to 300F. The liners can be formatted as an open-topped liner or with a filling spout. Filling spouts are designed to go over the discharge spout of the hopper/machinery, so the product is never exposed to the outside atmosphere. This massively reduces the chance of the product’s absorbing moisture vapor.
